Based on Jeremiah 31:31-34
One: “The days are surely coming,” says the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant
Many: Not like the old covenant, which was broke,
One: But a new law that is written within.”
Many: A new covenant written on our hearts.
One: “I will be their god,”
Many: And we will be God’s people.
One: No longer shall one say to another – Have you been saved?
Many: For everyone shall be – the least to the greatest.
One: All iniquity is forgiven, and sin is remembered no more.
All: We come free from sin to worship our God who gives us the new covenant!
Call to Worship
(Based on James 5:13-20)
One: Are any among you suffering?
Many: We pray for one another wholeness.
One: Are any among you cheerful?
Many: We sing songs of cheerful praise!
One: Are any among you sick?
Many: We anoint one another with prayers and oil.
One: Are any among you wandering into sin?
Many: We confess our sins to one another, and are forgiven.
One: My brothers and sisters, our prayers are powerful and effective!
All: We gather to pray, to praise, and worship in the name of Christ!
(Based on Isaiah 50:4-9a)
One: The Lord God has given us the tongues of teachers
Many: That we may know how to sustain the weary with a word.
One: Morning by morning, God awakens–
Many: And then God awakens us to listen.
One: Listening, we stay in peace among conflict.
Many: Our listening God helps us.
One: The world may clamor, and accuse, insult and spit,
All: But we gather in peace ready for the sustaining Word and listening Spirit.
Based on Ezekiel 2:1-3:3
One: God says: O Mortal, rise on your feet and hear my words!
Many: And when God spoke, a Spirit entered me and lifted me up.
One: God says: O Mortal, I am sending you to the sin-sick, to the rebellious, to those who don’t want to hear my words
Many: We are afraid of the briers and thorns, the scorpions, and what people say about us.
One: Children, do not be afraid. You must speak my words, whether they listen or fail to listen.
All: We open our mouths and take your words, as sweet as honey, to speak to the world full of woe.
One: How very pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity!
Many: It is like precious oil anointing the head,
One: Anointing the beard of Aaron and running over the collar of his robes.
Many: It is like the dew of Hermon, falling on the Holy Mountains.
One: For there God ordained the blessing, the blessing of life forevermore.
Many: Like frosting on the cake, like the cherry on top – is unity. The crowning goodness of our Lord.
One: Let us go and worship our unifying God.
All: As one we praise the God who is Three-in-One!
One: Say to daughter Zion: Behold, your king comes to you, meek and riding on a donkey!
Many: Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest!
One: Who is this? Who disturbs the peace?
Many: Hosanna! This is the prophet, Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee. Hosanna in the highest!
One: Do you hear what they are saying? Jesus, make your disciples stop shouting!
Many: Hosanna! If we keep quiet, the stones will start shouting. Hosanna in the highest!
All: Hosanna! The King of Peace arrives! Hosanna in the highest! Let us praise God!
Call to Worship
Based on 1 Peter 5:6-11
One: Cast all your anxiety on God because God cares for you.
Many: We discipline ourselves to be alert to God’s presence.
One: Like a lion, the Adversary prowls looking for someone to devour.
Many: We resist temptations by remaining steadfast in our faith.
One: Know that your brothers and sisters throughout the world know the same sufferings you do.
Many: Throughout the world, our brothers and sisters want the same things we do, pray for the same things we do, and love just like we do.
One: And throughout the world, the God of all grace, who has called us to eternal Glory in Christ, restores us, supports us, strengthens us, and establishes us.
All: To God be the power for ever and ever! Let us worship God!
